Who doesn’t love a bridal shower? It’s a celebration for the bride-to-be with her closest friends and family. It’s the time when her loved ones share stories about how awesome she is; how lucky the groom is to have her; a time to play dress-up in toilet tissue; and the time to give her advice on what to expect in marriage (from the married). As a photographer, I love to shoot these events. They always remind me of my own (which to date, took place almost ten years ago). Bridal shower photographs show extreme amounts of love and happiness, and are a memory for the bride to keep forever. It’s the last formal event, before the wedding, when the bride can be with all of her favorite girls. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph the bridal shower of a stunningly beautiful bride-to-be, Kirsten Corley, who also happens to be the bride-to-be of Chicago’s very own Chance the Rapper. It was an honor (for so many reasons) and I accepted. To be honest, all of the bridal showers and weddings that I’ve photographed have been an honor. These are very special moments for a bride, and I do not take for granted that my clients hand them over to me to deliver back to them. It gives me complete joy. This bridal shower was everything I imagined it would be… beautiful flowers and décor, fun games, great food, and a room filled with laughter, conversation, and love. I was happy to photograph this event for a wonderful person who is beautiful, poised, clearly an awesome friend, and has a presence that draws you near. It was bridal bliss for all in the room… and I was able to do what I love: Capture a moment in time.
